About Dr. Sydney Schenk
DDS
Dr. Sydney (Kent) Schenk moved to Pilot Mountain in first grade, after her parents retired from the Coast Guard. She attended East Surry High School (Class of 2009) and continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she double majored in Chemistry and Biology. She later completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at THE Ohio State University (Go Bucks).
A Thoughtful Approach to Care
Afterwards, she moved back to NC and married her sweetheart, Carson. Carson and Dr. Sydney have two children, Otto and Myers, and two dogs. They are enjoying life in Mount Airy and are excited to plant roots here for many, many years.
Dr. Sydney bought the practice from Dr. Wayne Gilreath in September of 2025. She is incredibly thankful for the foundation that Dr. Gilreath has built through the years, and it’s evident in the practice he conveyed to her.
Her goals are for her patients to feel at home with her and her staff, build a mutual trust, and feel confident in their oral health. She is extremely grateful to her staff for welcoming her and accepting her as she enters this new phase of her career.
Her favorite thing about being a dentist is building relationships with her patients. Dr. Sydney is passionate about talking about airway health and Invisalign and educating patients about their full potential with their teeth.
